Mitch Vane is a Melbourne based illustrator who works in a variety of mediums but is at her happiest drawing with a good old-fashioned dip pen and Indian ink. She often collaborates with her partner Danny Katz – her cartoons have appeared with his weekly humour column in The Age for over twelve years. They have created many children’s books together, including the YABBA award winning Little Lunch series andNo Thanks Hanks & Other Unmannerly Tales.

Mitch has illustrated many other children’s books with publishers both in Australia and the US including The PatchBedtails, and the much loved Becky series with Ursula Dubosarsky which includes the 2011 CBCA shortlisted titleThe Deep End. Mitch paints in her studio at home, and does various workshops and appearances at bookshops, libraries and schools throughout the year.

Mitch works with lots of different mediums. She loves painting , crafting, and drawing funny wonky pictures for kid's books , usually with an old-fashioned messy dip pen and  ink. Mitch divides her time between working on painting projects of her own, and illustrating picture books for publishers both in Australia and the U.S. She often collaborates with her partner Danny Katz - her cartoons appeared with his weekly column in The Age for many years. They have created many children's books together including , No Thanks Hanks, A Book About Scary, and the award winning Little Lunch series which has been adapted for television by Gristmill and will be screened on ABC3 later this year.  Mitch also does school visits and workshops .
